In a chilling crime that has sent shockwaves through the community, authorities are on high alert as they intensify efforts to locate a man suspected of brutally murdering a female companion at the Silent Kireka Guest House in Kireka B zone, Kira municipality, Wakiso district.
The grim discovery was made on February 10, 2024, around 7:00 pm, when a lodge attendant stumbled upon a horrific scene in room 2 of the lodging facility. The victim, identified only as a brown woman, was found lifeless on the bed, blood seeping from her nose. As of now, her identity remains unknown as police work to establish her credentials.
The missing suspect, known by the alias Mike Bilinego, had allegedly booked the room for a brief stay at a nominal fee of sh5000. However, shockingly, upon investigation, the victim’s handbag was found emptied of all belongings, suggesting a potential motive of robbery.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Nakawa division, Kampala, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga addressed the concerning rise in violence against women. He revealed a similar case under investigation in Greater Masaka and Sembabule district, where a woman named Mastullah Nabasirye was found strangled to death in her rented accommodation.
Nabasirye, who had recently relocated to Betty Nalubega’s rooms in downtown Sembabule town council, fell victim to yet another instance of violence targeting women.
As authorities race against time to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice, communities are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. The urgency to address such heinous crimes underscores the importance of collective action in ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within society.
