Police Launch Investigation into Murder of Nakawa Businessman

In a disturbing development, homicide detectives have initiated an investigation into the tragic death of 25-year-old Derick Bagenze, whose lifeless body was discovered tied up and murdered. Bagenze, a resident of Naguru-Godown in Nakawa division, Kampala city, is believed to have been kidnapped, killed elsewhere, and then dumped in Bujjuko on the Mityana road.

The gruesome discovery has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime. Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire disclosed these details during a media briefing held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are focusing on gathering evidence and examining the crime scene meticulously. With Nakawa located approximately 36.3 kilometers away from Bujjuko in Wakiso district, the circumstances surrounding Bagenze’s murder raise serious concerns about the safety of residents in the area.

In light of this tragic incident, the Police are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for justice. Efforts are underway to review CCTV footage from various locations across Kampala, with the hope of identifying and apprehending those responsible for this senseless act of violence.

“The shocking nature of this incident underscores the urgency of our investigation and the need to ensure the safety and security of all residents,” stated Owoyesigyire during the briefing.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
