President Museveni Highlights Trade, Cooperation At The Closing Of G77+China Summit in Uganda

Kampala, Uganda – In a grand finale to the G77+China Summit, President Yoweri Museveni urged member nations to strengthen trade ties and foster cooperation among themselves. The two-day  summit, held at the prestigious Speke Resort Convention Center Munyonyo, brought together leaders from developing countries to discuss strategies for sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

During his closing address, President Museveni underscored the importance of promoting trade and economic partnerships among G77-China members. He emphasized the need to focus on increasing intra-regional trade which, according to him, would enhance economic growth, create job opportunities, and uplift the standard of living for all participating nations.

“The future lies in expanding trade ties within our group,” President Museveni declared. “By reducing reliance on external markets, we can tap into the vast potential of our own resources and strengthen our collective bargaining power on the global stage.”

Highlighting Africa’s potential as a hub for investment and trade, the Ugandan President called upon member nations to exploit the available opportunities. He stressed the need to develop infrastructure, improve energy sectors, and implement policies that promote ease of doing business to attract foreign investors.

The G77-China Summit, which saw the attendance of prominent statesmen and representatives from more than 130 countries, focused on a wide range of issues. In addition to trade and cooperation, discussions revolved around sustainable development, climate change mitigation, poverty eradication, and the role of technology in enhancing economic growth.

Throughout the summit, delegates presented case studies, shared experiences, and engaged in dialogue to foster knowledge transfer and cooperation among member nations. The diversity of perspectives and expertise contributed to a rich and vibrant exchange of ideas.

In his closing remarks, President Museveni expressed his belief that the G77-China Summit had laid the foundation for a prosperous future for member countries. He thanked the attendees for their valuable contributions and encouraged them to maintain the momentum generated during the summit to achieve tangible outcomes.

As the curtains closed on the G77-China Summit, the Speke Resort Convention Center Munyonyo stood as a testament to the success of the event. The platform provided an opportunity for leaders to forge alliances, strengthen ties, and chart a path towards a more prosperous and equitable world.

With the summit’s conclusion, member nations are now tasked with translating the discussions and commitments made into concrete actions that benefit their citizens.
