Hoima, Uganda – In a shocking and brutal incident, Hoima police have apprehended two herdsmen suspected of murder. The suspects, whose identities have been concealed to safeguard ongoing investigations, are accused of conspiring with others to kill Pithuwa, a fisherman affiliated with Kabarangwa landing site in Kibiro parish, Kiganja Sub County, Hoima district.

The tragic event unfolded on Saturday around 11 p.m. at the Kibiro landing site in Kiganja sub-county. According to reports, the herdsmen allegedly ambushed their victim, attacking him with multiple blows to the head and neck, resulting in his immediate death.

Godfrey Abigaba, the local LC I Chairperson, recounted the harrowing details, stating that residents heard the desperate cries for help from the victim. Rushing to the scene, they discovered Pithuwa’s lifeless body in a pool of blood. Sadly, their efforts to save him were futile, as he had succumbed to his injuries.

Julius Hakiza, the spokesperson for the Albertine region police, informed Uganda Radio Network-URN that swift action was taken by both the police and Uganda People’s Defense Forces soldiers. On Sunday, two of the suspects were apprehended and are currently held at Hoima Central Police Station.

“The suspects are now under police custody as investigations into the matter continue. They have been formally charged with murder,” Hakiza stated. However, the hunt for the remaining individuals involved in the heinous crime is ongoing.

As the community grapples with the shock and grief over the loss of Pithuwa, questions arise about the motives behind the murder and the safety of residents in the area. The police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in bringing all the perpetrators to justice.

The tragic episode highlights the need for increased vigilance and security measures in the region, and local authorities are calling for a collaborative effort to ensure the safety of residents and prevent such incidents from recurring in Hoima district.
