Africa In The Face Of Power Grip; Preparing Early Transition Can Solve Mockery
By New Light Paper Reporter
In an unfortunate incident during the 23rd Ordinary EAC Summit of Heads of State, President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan faced a regrettable moment while addressing the gathering. Amidst the focused cameras capturing speeches from EAC Chairperson Salva Kiir and other leaders like Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu Hassan, and DRC’s Felix Tshisekedi, President Kiir struggled to deliver a prepared speech.
This lapse not only diminishes Africa’s image but also highlights the importance for African leaders to retire gracefully, emphasizing the need for transparent transitions. Though it may be overlooked, this incident raises concerns about South Sudan’s representation on various platforms.
