Museveni Directs UPDF to Allow Media Access to Captured Women Following ADF Operation
By Ivan Kaahwa
President Museveni has disclosed crucial information about the ongoing battle against the ADF in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He revealed that UPDF operations, involving aircraft, were temporarily halted due to adverse weather conditions. However, ongoing coordination with Congolese forces persists to target the right locations.
On Friday, November 24, 2023, the 11th battalion killed two terrorists and captured two women at Mayongosi, southeast of Beni Town. These individuals are linked to the Tanzanian Arab, Abu wa Kasi, responsible for the heinous attack on Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary School children.
In a strategic move, President Museveni has instructed the UPDF to allow the captured women to communicate with the media. This decision aims to signal the information the forces possess about the terrorists and their activities.
Simultaneously, security forces in Kasese are actively pursuing a group led by a Congolese individual identified as Kamusu which comprises remnants of Njovu’s faction, responsible for the killing of tourists in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
President Museveni emphasizes the ongoing enhancement of detection and search techniques. Intelligence indicates that terrorists currently perceive the Congolese forests as too perilous, prompting their infiltration back into Uganda in smaller groups. The mission now involves locating and eliminating these groups, whether in Uganda or Congo, near urban areas.
