Arsenal Supporter Collapses To Death While Celebrating Trozzard’s Equalizer
A Ugandan Arsenal FC supporter, Fostine Androdribo allegedly collapsed to death while celebrating his team’s unexpected equalizer against Chelsea FC in a gruelling English Premier League match on Saturday evening.
The game ended in a two-all draw at Stamford Bridge – a result that gave Arsenal a much-needed point to maintain its unbeaten run for the season. Chelsea dominated large parts of the game and were leading 2-0 until the 77th minute via goals from Cole Palmer’s penalty in the 15th minute and Mykhailo Mudruk’s goal in the 48th minute.
The game looked dead and buried for Arsenal until Declan Rice scored a goal out of nowhere – which was in fact Arsenal’s first shot on target in the game. The goal gave Arsenal impetus to attack and search for an equalizer which they effectively got with just 6 minutes to go to full time.
It’s probably this unlikely comeback from a game that looked dead and dusted that caused Androdribo to collapse inside Galaxy Video Hall in Komendako trading centre in Omugo sub-county in Terego district according to Omugo sub-county chairperson Philliam Jabo, also a neighbour to the deceased.
Androdribo was a resident of Komendako village, Owayi parish, Omugo sub-county in Terego district. According to Jabo, Androdribo stood up and removed his shirt while celebrating substitute Leandro Trossard’s 84th-minute equalizer before collapsing suddenly.
He said that although efforts were made by his colleagues to rush him for medical attention, Androdribo was confirmed dead upon arrival at Omugo health IV.
“In the evening, he went to watch a match between Arsenal and Chelsea. According to what I got from his colleagues with whom he was watching the football match, he just suddenly stood up, removed his shirt and then suddenly collapsed. Immediately he was rushed to Omugo health centre IV [between] 8 pm and 9 pm but he was already dead,” said Jabo.
William Drabo, a brother to the deceased said that his brother did not have any known medical condition. According to Drabo, his brother has been working as a security guard in Kampala city, and travelled to the village about a week ago to attend the burial of one of their relatives.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives who declined to subject it to post-mortem examination to establish the actual cause of death. Early last month, another Arsenal supporter in Sheema district, western Uganda identified as Jackson Aineruhanga, was allegedly stabbed to death by a Manchester United fan following Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over his team.
