A 22-year-old man is being huntedt by police in western Uganda’s Sheema District on murder charges after he is believed to have killed a 21-year-old Arsenal supporter during an argument over the weekend’s English Premier League game between the Gunners and Manchester United.

Jackson Aineruhanga, a villager who lived in Rwanyinakahire cell, Rwamujojo ward, Sheema Central Division, Sheema municipality, and Sheema District, was fatally murdered shortly after Arsenal’s 3:1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, according to police.

The greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, Mr. Marcial Tumusiime, stated: “It is alleged that on the evening of September 3, 2023, Aineruhanga and the suspect got into an argument in a video hall while watching a football game between Manchester United and Arsenal.”

The two football enthusiasts got into a fight after Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United had a late goal disallowed for offside.

Later, the two proceeded to a pub, but they were kicked out due of their argument. The victim was stabbed in the chest by the perpetrator after being compelled to run after him. After the incident, the victim is alleged to have bled to death,” Mr. Tumusiime continued.

Detectives visited the attack area, according to Mr. Tumusiime, and a piece of a stick with what appeared to be blood smears was taken from the scene and displayed.

The suspect is still at large, but the scene of the incident has been examined.

“The scene also yielded the suspect’s open-toed shoes. The body of Aineruhanga was later sent to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for a postmortem, according to a police official.
