Herbalist Arrested Over Misleading s3xual Enhancement Drugs

The National Drug Authority (NDA) has announced the arrest of Mr. Rashid Ashiraf Lukwago, a city herbalist, for illegal possession of restricted s3x enhancement medicine, unlawful possession of contraception, and providing misleading treatment claims.

The drug regulator stated in a statement yesterday that the arrest happened on Wednesday night during a combination police and drug enforcement operation.

“Mr. Lukwago, whom our intelligence team has been tracking for some time, claims that he conducts “blood purification” using “organic” medicine and has been promoting s3xual enhancement concoctions that are not approved by the NDA,” the drug regulation organization claimed.

According to the agency, their crew discovered multiple packets of the restricted Chinese tablets as well as sildenafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction.

The other products included antimalarials and antibiotics, which NDA suspects were used to tamper with the purported “organic” medicine, which the seller claimed addressed a variety of illnesses, including erectile dysfunction, blood purification, and women’s gynecological diseases, among others.

The NDA Act classifies the medications, and only licensed medical professionals are permitted to handle and prescribe them.

According to the NDA, the products could cause major side effects include respiratory (lung) and cardiac (heart) issues, drug resistance brought on by antibiotic abuse, urinary difficulties, and occasionally even coma and death.

In addition to being against the law, combining herbal mixtures with conventional medicine endangers the health of the consumer because it can lead to drug interactions and high toxicity, among other things. The NDA should be notified of any suspect items or individuals, the drug regulator advised the public to do.

The statement continued, “Mr. Lukwago is currently detained at the Kawempe Police Station and will be produced in court to address charges, including engaging in pharmacy operations without a license in violation of Section 14(3) of the National Drug Policy and Authority Act, Cap. 206.
